I have been really busy with work, vacation, moving and Rahul's soon-to-be departure to New York, leaving me no energy a the moment to blog, paint, draw and do other fun crafty things. :(

If you ride a bike or have a friend that does please go to Mayor Menino’s Bicycling Safety Summit on Wednesday April 21, 2010 from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at BU’s Morse Auditorium, 602 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA.

The Summit will gather area bicyclists and high-ranking city officials to discuss ways of improving safety for everyone who uses Boston’s roadways. The session will feature short speeches followed by a longer, open question and answer session. Our goal is to collectively begin to understand how to make Boston’s roads as safe as possible for all users.

Design Developed Decayed art opening is Saturday, April 17th, 7:30 pm at the Framers' Workshop located at 64 Harvard street in Brookline Village

Peter Dudgeon is a local filmmaker and photographer. Much of his work focuses on the urban decay and underbelly of the streets, alleys and corners of Boston. Peter Dudgeon will show photos and photo collage.

Frank Criscione is a designer and artist living and working in Boston. This series of 2D work explores the repurposing of objects and emotional legacy... how to pull out and present the beauty available when you break something down and build it back up.The show will be up for two weeks. Frank will show works on paper, drawing, painting and designed frames and objects.

Also, the Framers' Workshop, are participating in Brookline open studios, May 1st and 2nd.

Every Thursday night at the ICA (map) is free entry after 5PM 'till close. This is an amazing opportunity to see some of the best contemporary art on display at one of Boston's best examples of contemporary architecture. THE MIDDLESEX LOUNGE
The Middlesex Lounge (map) constantly hosts a number of cover free nights every week. Heartthrob, Make It New, YoYoYo Wednesdays, and monthly Bodega Girls shows: who wouldn't want to frequent this ultra cool bar?

MOVIES AND MUSIC ON THE ESPLANADE
A summer specific attraction but one of the best that Boston has to offer. Every Friday in the summertime, a movie is played on a large projector screen outside; perfect for getting together with friends on a blanket and watching some family friendly film. A number of live musical acts also visit the Hatchshell and put on free performances for Bostonites (Bostoneers?). This past year featured the Beach Boys, oh yea.

THE GOOD LIFE
The Good Life (map) is another favorite of ours over at BOSTawesome. Many many great dj nights (our friends over at drinkmusik had a great year there) and their decor is killer, featuring some choice work by kngee and enamel kingdom.

MUSIC AND ART
Boston has a huge spectrum of artists, musicians and dj's. Here at BOSTawesome, we like to try to keep up with only the latest but with so much going on we inevitably end up missing out on some great FREE events. month. Yone’s curatorial work has included the artists Nan Golden, Terry Richardson, Ed Banger Records and Fafi. In short, Yone’s work shapes how Tokyo and the world views glamour, celebrity, sex, and fashion. "Artists and craftspeople of South Boston will open their doors to the public Saturday and Sunday, October 31st and November 1, 2009, as part of the annual South Boston Open Studios event. Visitors will be able to talk to and make purchases directly from the artists while touring the creative environments in which the artwork is produced. The weekend-long event also provides a great opportunity to sample many of this historic neighborhood's restaurants, cafes, pubs, and retail shops.

Numerous disciplines will be represented throughout the dozens of participants, including: sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, installation, photography, video, jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, fabric and performance art. Much of the work will be in-process and the artists will be on hand for questions and conversations. Participating organizations and galleries include The Distillery (which will showcase three galleries and over 50 artists) located at 516 East 2nd Street, King Terminal at 110 K Street & 570 E 1st Street, and Norman Crump Studio at 793 East Sixth Street.

The event is free to the public, rain or shine, noon to 6pm each day. Public transportation is easy, take the Red Line to Broadway and walk East, or take the #7 City Point bus from South Station to Elkins St."

RED BULL WITCH HUNT TONIGHT!!

You're invited on a spirited ride from Boston to Salem where your bike will be your broomstick. Come fly in a hunt for the Witches' party that lurks in the home of Halloween. Just trick out your wheels and dress like a witch. Then, gather at the Fourth Wall Project (map) gas station on the evening of October 28th for a web of haunted surprises.

Registration for The Red Bull Witch Hunt will start at 6:30PM on the 28th. Witch Hunt from Boston to Salem will take place from approximately 7:00PM-9:00PM. The Witches' party will be 9:00PM - 12:00AM at a secret location in Salem, MA.

Please come prepared for the hunt from Boston to Salem with proper clothing, costume, bicycle safety equipment (water, light and helmet recommended for this night ride). Transportation will be provided back to Boston after the Witches' party.
