2nd Annual Watergun Battle

I'm not gonna lie, this heat is getting to be ridiculous. With a lack of places to really cool off in Boston, why don't we all do ourselves a favor and just have a good old fashioned watergun battle.

Last year over 375 warriors rushed into battle, complete with marching armies, drums, fifes and bubble blowing robots. And this year, another battle is planned. But this time...even LARGER!
The battle is at an undisclosed location on Saturday, August 22 at 1:30PM.

FIRST YOU WILL NEED:
TO REGISTER HERE (very important because otherwise you will not know where to go for the battle)
1 UNLOADED water gun of your choice.
At least 3 FILLED two-liter bottles (bring more if you desire!)
1 back-pack to hold water bottles.- 1 either red or blue shirt (depending on army assignment).
Any other revolutionary paraphernalia you don’t mind getting wet (hats, flutes, etc)
As always, your fighting vigor and a bandanna!

The night before the event, emails will be sent out with army assignment and meet up location.

*Registration ends August 21st at 6:00PM. Register beforehand (or else you won’t know the location or be assigned an army beforehand! A sole soldier is a sad soldier.

Downtown Socials

Start your Thursday night off right with a party on Summer Street (map) with Dan Morrell, a DJ who mixes and shreds at the same time from 5-9PM TONIGHT! This event is 21+ and, as always, FREE.

MOMENTUM Gallery @ Chorus

In part with Open and Traitor Cycles, Matt W. Moore will be presenting a series of five hand-painted frames, a cycling cap and some other soft goods. In conjunction with the frames, Matt will be hanging some of his signature canvas work. The opening reception for the show is Saturday, August 15 at 8PM at the Chorus Gallery (map). I'm really pumped about this show...maybe Matt's custom Mini Cooper will be parked outside to checkout as well?

Somerville...in Shorts! OUTDOOR ANIMATED FILMS

On a hot summer evening, Union Square lights up at nightfall with an outdoor screening of animated and experimental shorts by local filmmakers. The Somerville Arts Council and Somerville Community Access Television (SCAT) have joined forces to project work from local animators and experimental filmmakers. Ranging from drawn animation to stop motion, humorous to ponderous, this family-friendly film fest is the first of its kind in the area. Local indie band, Faces on Film, will warm up the square while waiting for darkness to descend.

Street artist Shepards Fairey exhibit at the ICA is coming down after Sunday, August 16th and tonight is the last day to catch it for free (admission to the ICA is ALWAYS free on Thursdays after 5pm).

Shakespeare on Boston Common

The 14th annual FREE Shakespeare on the Common production will be "The Comedy of Errors". This is the final weekend of the show and will begin at 8pm Friday (8/14) and Saturday (8/15) and at 7pm Sunday (8/16). Try to get a close spot because otherwise it's hard to hear and confusing because many characters have doubles so it's difficult to differentiate characters and follow the story. "to free or not to free, that is the question" and the answer is, yes, it's free.

Aug28 - The China Syndrome
Sept4 - The Inn of the 6th Happiness
