BOSTawesome HIATUS

As many of you have noticed, BOSTawesome has been in a bit of an on-again-off-again hiatus over the last few months. I have been really busy with work, vacation, moving and Rahul's soon-to-be departure to New York, leaving me no energy a the moment to blog, paint, draw and do other fun crafty things. :(

Please contact me if you or someone you know would like to join BOSTawesome and post about free events.

Thanks!

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS BANKSY

If you have the day off, I suggest you explore Chinatown and Cambridge to search for Bansky's graffiti before it's painted over.

bostonist.com saw Banksy in Boston (Chinatown, to be specific) earlier today, but it seems the famed street artist may have made his way over to 1 Essex Street in Central Square as well.

BICYCLE SAFTY SUMMIT @ BU 4/21

Please watch out for violence & slick roads from oil near the corner of Tremont and Mass ave. My coworker crashed his bike from slipping on oil late yesterday and a random crazy man in his mid-thirties punched him in the face for no reason.

If you ride a bike or have a friend that does please go to Mayor Menino’s Bicycling Safety Summit on Wednesday April 21, 2010 from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at BU’s Morse Auditorium, 602 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA.

The Summit will gather area bicyclists and high-ranking city officials to discuss ways of improving safety for everyone who uses Boston’s roadways. The session will feature short speeches followed by a longer, open question and answer session. Our goal is to collectively begin to understand how to make Boston’s roads as safe as possible for all users.
Featured speakers and/or panelists include:
Mayor Thomas M. Menino
Boston Police Commissioner, Ed Davis
Boston Transportation Commissioner, Thomas Tinlin
Boston EMS Chief, James Hooley
State Transportation Secretary, Jeffrey Mullan
MBTA General Manager, Rich Davies
Boston Bikes Director, Nicole Freedman

The Mayor’s announcement of the Summit comes in the wake of a third recent bike accident and ahead of Boston Bike Week next month. For more information, please see: http://www.cityofboston.gov/news/default.aspx?id=4624

THE TAKEOVER VS. BODEGA/BAILEYWORKS COLLABO

When these two hipster/streetwear stores have events on the same night (TONIGHT FEB 12!) YOU WIN! Both Karmaloop and Bodega will be having events to celebrate all their fashionable glory and you should definitely try to hit up both in the Back Bay/Fenway area.

We at BOSTawesome have some insider information that the PBR and wodka will be flowing free (as in both plentiful amounts and gratis (but don't forget to tip, that's just foul)) Ms.Thang will be spinning and there will be other surprise treats abound.
Bodega will be unveiling their work with Bailey works and independent fabrication at their fourth wall space (map). Mind you: you should RSVPing to paperlabels@ifbikes.com is the polite thing to do in order to check out the killer custom bicycles, messenger bags, and tshirts.
